Floor Screed
Advantages of Floor Screed
Our Gyvlon based floor screed is designed to provide a smooth level surface in both commercial and domestic buildings prior to the application of floor finishes. It can be used bonded, unbonded or floating and with or without underfloor heating system. Our team are also able to design, supply and install all types of underfloor heating systems, ideal for use with our floor screed. Visit our underfloor heating screed page for more information on the best application.
With many advantages over traditional floor screeding practices, our floor screeds are proving increasingly popular in both the commercial and residential sectors. Utilising an efficient delivery system, our liquid floor screed can cover over 1000 square meters each day, whilst avoiding substantial labour costs and the added implications, such as barrow damage to door frames and under floor heating pipes. Flowing screed can be pumped from a single vehicle on site, offering a full service regardless of the location in South-East England.
Why choose Flow Screed Services for Floor Screed?
- In commercial settings, a minimum thickness of 40mm of screed is recommended. For domestic applications a minimum thickness of no less than 35mm should be applied. The surface finish of gyvlon bonded floor screed is self levelling, and will meet the surface regulation classification 2 for normal standard accuracy floors. For further levelling we offer a range of levelling compound solutions. More information can be found on our levelling screed page.
- Our floor screed composition is specially designed to minimise cracking or fracturing and for the lowest possible level of shrinkage. This means a single speedy application is all that is needed, and touching up, finishing and detailing are kept to a minimum. Our flowing floor screed also requires no reinforcement of the underlying insulation layer. These factors helps you to keep your project on budget and on time.
- We recommend the British Standard 8203 screed drying time of 1 day per 1mm of thickness up to a maximum of 40mm of thickness, and an additional day for every additional mm of thickness. However, our Gyvlon binder based floor screed is specially formulated for quick-drying. The surfaces of our floor screed can be walked on or bare light loads within 24-48 hours. This allows construction to continue much more quickly than with traditional screeds or floor finishes, reducing labour costs and keeping your project within budget.

What is Floor Screed?
Floor screed is a carefully blended mixture of cement, sharp sand, and water, designed to create a solid, level base for various flooring applications.
Suitable for both commercial and domestic settings, floor screed provides an ideal surface for the installation of all types of floor coverings, including tiles, vinyl, and carpet. It can be used in conjunction with underfloor heating systems, ensuring efficient heat distribution and a comfortable environment.
To achieve the best results, we recommend adhering to the British Standards BS8203 for drying times. Typically, allow one day of drying for every 1mm of screed thickness up to 40mm, with an additional day for each 0.5mm beyond that.
Our floor screed services are available now for all your flooring needs, whether you’re located in London, Surrey, or the South-East of England.
