Advantages of Flowing Screed

Flowing screed is a modern, self-levelling flooring solution that offers numerous advantages over traditional sand and cement screeds. It is designed to provide a smooth, even surface that is ideal for a variety of floor coverings, including tiles, vinyl, and carpets. This type of screed is particularly well-suited for use with underfloor heating systems due to its excellent thermal conductivity.

With many advantages over traditional floor screeding practices, our flowing screeds are proving increasingly popular in both the commercial and residential sectors. Utilising an efficient delivery system, our liquid floor screed can cover over 1000 square meters each day, whilst avoiding substantial labour costs and the added implications, such as barrow damage to door frames and under floor heating pipes. Flowing screed can be pumped from a single vehicle on site, offering a full service regardless of the location in South-East England.

What is Flowing Screed?

Our Gyvlon based flowing screed is designed to provide a smooth level surface in both commercial and domestic buildings prior to the application of floor finishes. It can be used bonded, unbonded or floating and with or without UFH

Our team are also able to design, supply and install all types of underfloor heating systems, ideal for use with our flowing screed. Visit our underfloor heating screed page for more information on the best application.

In commercial settings, a minimum thickness of 40mm of screed is recommended. For domestic applications a minimum thickness of no less than 35mm should be applied. The surface finish of Gyvlon bonded flowing screed is self levelling, and will meet the surface regulation classification 2 for normal standard accuracy floors. For further levelling we offer a range of levelling compound solutions. More information can be found on our levelling compound page.

We recommend the British Standard 8203 screed drying time of 1 day per 1mm of thickness up to a maximum of 40mm of thickness, and an additional day for every additional mm of thickness. However, our Gyvlon binder based screed is specially formulated for quick drying. The surfaces of our flowing screed can be walked on or bare light loads within 24-48 hours. This allows construction to continue much more quickly than with traditional screeds or floor finishes, reducing labour costs and keeping your project within budget.
